Bimota YB6 Tuatara (1990)

Bimota YB6 Tuatara was a limited edition motorcycle with only 60 units produced in 1990. It had a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder, DOHC engine with a capacity of 1002 cc. The bike was liquid-cooled and had Weber-Marelli fuel injection with a digital ignition system. It had a maximum power output of 145 hp at 10500 rpm and a maximum torque of 94.1 Nm at 9000 rpm. The frame of the bike comprised two diagonal beams made of aluminum with internal ribbing, while the swing arm was also made of aluminum. The front suspension had Marzocchi inverted telescopic forks, and the rear suspension had a Marzocchi monoshock. The brakes consisted of two 320mm discs at the front and a single 230mm disc at the rear. The bike weighed 168 kg and had a fuel capacity of 20 litres. In terms of performance, the YB6 Tuatara had a top speed of 279.4 km/h and could do the standing 1/4 mile run in 10.4 seconds at a speed of 213.1 km/h. The name Tuatara came from a reptile in New Zealand, which was slow moving.

The Tuatara is a special version of the YB6. It differs chiefly by the introduction of fuel injection rather than carburettors. The name Tuatara comes from the name of a reptile in New Zealand, which moves exceptionally slowly.:
