Ducati 250 GT / 250 Monza (GT:1964-66Monza:1965-67)

The Ducati 250 GT and 250 Monza, produced between 1964 and 1967, were both powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, Desmo SOHC, bevel gear-driven engine with a capacity of 248.6 cc. The motorcycles had an air-cooled cooling system and utilized a Dell’Orto UBF24BS carburetor for induction. The 250 GT had a maximum power output of 13.7 kW (18.4 hp) at 7200 rpm, while the 250 Monza produced 16.4 kW (22 hp) at the same rpm. Both models had a wet, multi-plate clutch and a 5-speed transmission with gear ratios ranging from 2.53 to 0.97:1. The final drive was via a chain, with a ratio of 18/45 for the GT and 17/45 for the Monza. The frame was a single downtube, open frame with a large diameter backbone tube, and the suspension consisted of a hydraulic telescopic fork (Ducati 31.5 mm) at the front and a swingarm with dual shocks (Marzocchi) at the rear. Both models had drum brakes, with a 180 mm diameter drum at the front and a 160 mm diameter drum at the rear. The dimensions varied slightly between the two models, with the 250 GT having a length of 2000 mm and a height of 1070 mm, whereas the 250 Monza was slightly shorter at 1960 mm in length, but taller at 1100 mm in height.
