The Kawasaki GTR1000 (also known as the ZG 1000 Concours) was a motorcycle produced from 1986 to 1989. It featured a liquid-cooled four-stroke transverse four-cylinder DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder, a capacity of 997cc, and a compression ratio of 10.2:1. The bike was equipped with 4 x 32mm Keihin CV carburetors, electronic ignition, and an electric starter. The GTR1000 had a maximum power output of 110 hp (85 kW) at 9500 rpm, while the ZG 1100 version produced 97 hp (72.3 kW) at 7000 rpm. The maximum torque was 10 kgf-m at 6500 rpm. The transmission was a 6-speed, and the final drive was a shaft.

The bike had a 41mm telescopic front suspension with air-assisted adjustable preload, while the rear suspension was a UNI-TRAK system with adjustable preload, rebound damping, and air pressure.
