The Kawasaki ZX-10 motorcycle was first introduced in 1988 and the 1990 model had a four stroke, transverse four cylinder, DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder. It had a capacity of 997 cc and a bore x stroke of 74 x 58 mm, ran on a liquid cooled system, and had a compression ratio of 11.0:1. Induction was through 4x 36mm Keihin CV carburetors and the ignition was electronic with electric starting. It had a maximum power of 137 hp at 10000 rpm and a maximum torque of 3.6 kgf-m at 9000 rpm. The transmission was 6 speed with a final drive on chain. The front suspension featured 41mm telescopic forks and the rear suspension was a uni-trek monoshock, air assisted 4-way rebound damping adjustment. The front brakes were 2x 300mm discs with 2 piston calipers and the rear brake was a single 250mm disc with 2 piston caliper. The front tire was 120/70-17 and the rear tire was 160/60-18. The dry weight of the motorcycle was 222 kg and fuel capacity was 22 Litres / 5.8 US gal. The average fuel consumption was 16.2 km/lit.
