Matchless G85 CS (1964-69)

The Matchless G85 CS was a motorcycle produced from 1964 to 1969, equipped with a single-cylinder, four-stroke, pushrod engine with a capacity of 497cc. The bike had a gear-driven oil pump for lubrication, a 1-3/8 inch Amal GP carburetor (later replaced by a 932 Concentric carburetor), and a magneto ignition system. With a compression ratio of 12:1, the G85 CS had a maximum power output of 30.2 kW (41 hp) at 6500 rpm.

The G85 CS had a 4-speed transmission and a duplex frame. It featured an AMC fork for the front suspension and a swingarm, twin shocks and coil springs, and oil dampers for the rear suspension. The bike had drum brakes on both the front and rear wheels, with the rear brake being 8 1/4 inches in diameter. The wheels were made of steel with wire spokes, and the bike had a wheelbase of 1445mm (56.9 inches).

The front tire was 3.00 x 21 inches, while the rear tire was 4.00 x 18 inches. The fuel capacity was 9.1 liters (2.4 US gallons). With its classic design and powerful engine, the Matchless G85 CS was a popular motorcycle among riders in the 1960s.
