Kawasaki KLR 600 (1986-87)

The Kawasaki KLR 600 was a popular motorcycle produced between 1986 and 1987. It boasted a four-stroke, single-cylinder, DOHC engine with a 564cc capacity capable of producing 42 horsepower and 4.7 kgf-m of torque. It had a 5-speed transmission and was started by kick. The bike’s front suspension consisted of air-assisted forks, and the rear was supported by a single shock with a rear wheel travel of 221mm. Front brakes were a single 220mm disc, and the rear brakes were drum. Dry weight was set at 134 kg or 295.5 lbs, while the wet weight was 163 kg or 359.4 lbs. Fuel capacity was 11.5 liters or 3.0 US gallons, with an average consumption of 46 mpg. The bike’s top speed was 157 km/h, and it could go from 0 to 60 in 14.2 seconds with a quarter-mile standing time of 88.5 mph. The KLR 600 received positive reviews from the Motosprint Group Test in 1990.
