Yamaha XZ400D (1982-8)

The Yamaha XZ400D was a motorcycle produced from 1982-8, with a liquid-cooled, 398cc four-stroke, 70 degrees V-twin cylinder engine capable of reaching a maximum power of 45hp at 9000rpm with a compression ratio of 10.5:1. The bike featured a 2x Mikuni carburetor induction system and battery-powered inductive ignition, utilizing a 5-speed transmission and shaft final drive. The bike’s suspension had telescopic oil damped forks at the front and gas filled monoshock at the rear. The front brakes consisted of 2x 266mm discs while the rear brakes had a single 177mm drum. Both front and rear tires were 18 inches in diameter with the front measuring 100/90 and the rear measuring 110/90. The dry weight of the bike was 188kg and with fuel and other fluids, the weight increased to a wet weight of 201kg, with a fuel tank capacity of 17L.
